Here's exactly what to do after an accident, and how to reach us the moment you need to.

The Process

How to file a claim

  1. Make sure everyone is safe

Move to a safe location if possible, check for injuries, and call 911 if anyone needs medical attention.

  2. Document the scene

Take photos of all vehicles, damage, license plates, and the surrounding area. Get contact and insurance info from other drivers and witnesses.

  3. File a police report

Most states require a police report for accidents involving injury or significant damage. Request a copy of the report number.

  4. Report your claim

Call our 24/7 claims hotline or start your claim online. Have your policy number, the police report number, and your photos ready.

  5. Meet your claims adjuster

An adjuster will review the damage, explain your coverage, and walk you through repair options and next steps.

  6. Get back on the road

Once your claim is approved, we'll coordinate repairs or reimbursement and, if applicable, a rental vehicle.

Claims FAQs

How long do I have to file a claim?

We recommend filing as soon as possible — most states require notice within a reasonable time, and evidence is freshest right after an accident.

Will filing a claim raise my premium?

It depends on fault and your policy's accident-forgiveness terms. Your adjuster can walk you through the specifics of your policy.

Do you cover rental cars while mine is repaired?

Rental reimbursement is included on our Standard and Premium plans. Check your policy documents or ask your adjuster.
